Argyll, has an interesting and unpredictable climate, varying from days of torrential rain, unbroken  sunshine, hurricane force winds, and winter temperatures as cold as the Arctic.  In recent years I have seen rainfall of 4 inches over a period of 48 hours, and summer temperatures that have topped 32 degrees Celsius.

This site is for those who work on the land and water around the shores of this beautiful loch, and for the thousands of fishermen, climbers, and visitors who come here throughout the year.

Weather information is gathered from a Vantage Pro 2 weather station sited on the island of Innischonain, in the north east end of Loch Awe.  The station is mounted on a tripod on one of the highest points on the island, and is completely wireless. Power is supplied by a solar panel, and backed up by batteries. The radio transmitter has a working range of 300 m, which can be extended using repeaters.
